I have created this Mood Board to help show what ideas I would like to use in my A2coursework. I have used pictures of various locations, colour and people that I would like to use in my film trailer. We will be using different locations during filming so the audience won't tire of watching it, One of these locations will be in a woods.

Freytags pyramid

Aristotle's unified plot structure

Aristotle identified the basic linear plot structure in 350 BC as a simple triangle of the beginning, middle and ending. He observed that the middle section might involve some form of crisis, resolved by the end of the story.



In 1863 the German novelist Gustav Freytag published Pie Technik des Dramas in which he outlined his pyramid structure for his plot. Adapting Aristotle's basic triangle he added the ideas of the plot complicating, introducing conflicts and building a climax point, after which it falls away as the conflicts are worked out, the mysteries solved and finally left him with a satisfactory resolution.

Coursework Options

Our group has decided to make a promotion package for a new film to include a teaser trailer, together with: a film magazine front cover, featuring the film and a poster for the film. We decided on this for our A2 coursework as we felt our ideas were developed enough to produce a horror trailer to suit a specific target audience. Also by creating a horror trailer we felt we had more control and individuality over the storyline as the backing music in horror trailer tend to not have lyrics aand therefore we don't have a certain stortyline to follow, whereas most music videos storylines link in with their lyrics and the storyline is fit around the song.

Introduction

For this year we had a choice of either making a promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music video, with a cover for its release as part of a digipak (CD/DVD package) and a magazine advert for the digipak. Or we had the choice of a promottion package but for a new film, to include a trailer. For this piece of A2 coursework I have decided I am going to be creating a film trailer in a group of three. Alot of planning will be involed such as deciding of the location, props and actors that are going to appear in the video. To help myself and my group decide of the type of trailer were going to film, we will be analysing past and present film trailers to help us gain experience within this industry. By choosing a film trailer I can use my skills i obtained from last years AS coursework (Creating a magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread), When making the promotion package it will be easier to create as i know what selling points to include.
